GERTRAUD FÜHRER

Gertraud Führer, NGO, überbrachte stellvertretend für KAZUO SODA, Hibakusha, dessen Botschaft an die Teilnehmer der Veranstaltung.

»Dear Friends,

I am one of the 250,000 A-bomb survivors. It is my great pleasure to share the commemoration of GENBAKU NO HI by conveying the profound eagerness of Hibakusha for a world free from nuclear threat.

I tried to attend this significant peace event. To my deep regret, physical disorder has prevented me from visiting Europe on a peace mission this summer.

Today nuclear abolition is undoubtedly the world stream which most of the peoples must and can go along. Even the U.S. President Obama emphasized in his Prague speech the necessity of building a world without nuclear weapons.

The remark of the President whose country dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki is of vital importance in the sense of admitting criminality of the use of nuclear weapons and bringing us bright hopes for the future.

May the toll of the Peace Bell ring out farther and wider than ever!

In solidarity with all the participants,
Aachen Peace-Prize winner
